สถาบันศิลปะและวิชาการทางภาพยนตร์ (Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences) ได้ประกาศรายชื่อผู้เข้าชิงรางวัลออสการ์ครั้งที่ 84 ออกมาให้คอหนังทั่้วโลกได้รู้กันแล้ว ซึ่งในปีนี้ Hugo หนังสามมิติเรื่องแรกในชีวิตการกำกับของ Martin Scorsese ได้รับการเสนอชื่อเข้าชิงรางวัลสูงสุดที่ 11 สาขา รองลงมาเป็น The Artist หนังตัวเต็งรางวัลออสการ์ปีนี้ที่เข้าชิง 10 สาขา ส่วน Moneyball ที่มี Brad Pitt รับบทนำ และ War Horse หนังของพ่อมดฮอลลีวู้ด Steven Spielberg เข้าชิงเท่ากันที่ 6 สาขา

สำหรับการแจกรางวัลออสการ์ครั้งที่ 84 จะมีขึ้นในวันอาทิตย์ที่ 26 กุมภาพันธ์ 2012 ตามเวลาในอเมริกา ซึ่งจะตรงกับเวลาในบ้านเราเช้าวันจันทร์ที่ 27 กุมภาพันธ์ 2012
